Amandeep fires 67 for four-shot lead in sixth leg of Hero WPGT

Amandeep Drall put together a cracking five under par 67 to open a four-shot lead going into the final day of the Hero WPGT event at the Classic course near Gurgaon on Thursday.

Runner-u; at last year’s Indian Open, Amandeep found the touch she has been looking for to aggregate seven-under 137 after 36 holes, with Vani Kapoor (71-70) and Tvesa Malik (71-70) closest behind at the Classic Golf and Country Club.

Hitaashee Bakshi (70-72), coming off an injury, had a triple bogey but closed the day with an eagle to share fourth place with Gaurika Bishnoi (70-72), who had one birdie on the front nine and one bogey on the back nine.

Amandeep, who is headed for the Ladies European Tour next month, opened with four pars before landing her first birdie. She gave away that gain a couple of holes later but immediately got in back to turn in one-under.

On the back nine she birdied five holes against one dropped shot.

Vani was two over after seven holes before she rallied with two birdies before the turn.

She would add a further two birdies against one bogey before closing her round with yet another gained shot.

Solid effort

Tvesa could have challenged Amandeep as she was three-under through the first 10 holes but two dropped shots against one birdie saw her to a satisfying 70.

Seher Atwal (74-70) was solo sixth.

Anvvi Dahhiya was the best amateur with a 70 that saw her tied seventh alongside Neha Tripathi, Rhea Jha, Agrima Manral, and rookie Kriti Chowhan on two-over 146.

The cut fell at 11 over with 22 professionals and all six amateurs in the field making it to the final round.
