Playing steady golf has been Amandeep Drall’s forte for some time even if it is yet to result in a win. That quality was to the fore on Wednesday in round one of the fourth leg of the Hero Women’s Pro Golf Tour at the Bangalore Golf Club.

Three birdies over her last eight holes saw Amandeep take lead a two shot lead over the field after she had endured a rocky start.

Two over after the first eight holes, Amandeep managed to avoid any more bogeys and picked up three shots to finish on 1-under 69, the day’s only sub-par card.

Contrasting round

In sharp contrast, Vani Kapoor was two-under through the first eight holes but then went on to drop three shots to card a 1-over 71, two shots behind the leader.

Local amateur Asmitha Sathish had no birdies but dropped three shots for a round of 73.

Neha Tripathi (74) was fourth while Gursimar Badwal and Anousha Tripathi shared fifth place.

The second amateur in the field, Sneha Sharan, was seventh with a 76 while Pranavi Urs, winner of the last two events, has a rough start with one birdie against eight bogeys, three of them coming back-to-back.

Interestingly Pranavi won last week despite a card eight-over 80 in the third leg and will be hoping to make up over the next two rounds as she did last week.
