Amandeep Drall carded her best round on the Ladies European Tour to lead the Tipsport Czech Ladies Open with a scintillating 8 under par 64 at Royal Beroun Golf Club on Friday.’

A past runner-up at the Hero Women’s Indian Open, Amandeep set aside last week’s missed cut in Belgium to fire nine birdies against one dropped shot to lead the field by a stroke.

Having missed out on three scheduled events because of a delayed visa, Amandeep made up for lost time at Royal Beroun.

The 32-year-old sank four birdies in a row on holes 13, 14, 15 and 16 to head Englishwomen Floryntina Parker who was celebrating her 38th birthday, and Lianna Bailey on 67s

“I’m very happy,” Amandeep said on the LET website. “Especially after last week. Line reading was definitely the difference.

“I hit the ball well last week but couldn’t read the lines at all… But coming into this week, I focused a lot on my putting. I concentrated on my stroke and my lines.

Making up

“… probably making up for lost time. I was really sad that I missed out on three events because of my visa. But I’m happy now.”

On her approach for the nest two days, Amandeep added, “I’ll stick to what I’m doing and trust my stroke on the greens.”

Hitaashee Bakshi was the next best-placed Indian in shared 12th place on 4 under 68 while Diksha Dagar (70), Avani Prashanth (71), Tvesa Mali (72), Neha Tripathi (72), Sneha Singh (73) and Vani Kapoor (74) were further down the order.

Riding the streak of low scores on the opening day was three-time LET winner Parker who fired a bogey-free 67. “It was incredible actually,” Parker said later.

Nice surprise

“In 17 years, I’ve never shot level-par or better on my birthday. So today has come as a nice surprise to me. I played great out there. It was really solid and maybe 36 is my year.”

One shot behind Parker and Bailey was England rookie Esme Hamilton in tied fourth place alongside US Virgin Island player Alexandra Swayne.

Six others were 5 under 67 including Germany’s Chiara Noja, Denmark’s Sofie Kibsgaard Nielsen, Sweden’s Michaela Finn, England’s Rosie Davies, and Harang Lee and Luna Sobron Galmes of Spain.
