Amandeep Drall sank two birdies in her last four holes to fend off Seher Atwal on Friday, the final day of the eighth leg of the Hero Women’s Pro Golf Tour.

With the DLF Golf and Country Club presenting its usual challenges, Amandeep brought in a 1-over 73 to win by three shots over Seher (71).

The Panchkula golfer, who won the fourth leg and was top pro in the seventh leg at Noida, has now won twice in 2020.

She finished on 3-under 213 while Seher was level par 216 for 54 holes.

Debutant pro Jahanvi Bakshi had the day’s best card of 3-under 69 to recover from ninth place to third with a 4-over 220.

Kriti Chowhan (74) was the leading amateur in fourth place on 7-over 223, while Tvesa Malik (75) and Pranavi Urs (79) were tied fifth on 8-over 224s.

Amandeep, who has won every year since turning pro, opened with a birdie but dropped two over the next five holes to turn in one-over 37.

Steady progress

A series of pars over the next seven holes kept her firmly ahead.

Seher started five shots behind Amandeep and turned in level par. Two birdies against one bogey brought her to within three shots of the leader.

On the par-4 14th, Seher had a bogey against a double bogey for Amandeep, and the door seemed to open just a little more. The lead was now down to two.

However, the experienced Amandeep kept her nerve and birdied 15 and 17 and made no more mistakes.

For her part, Seher birdied 15th and parred the rest leaving Amandeep a victor by a handy three shots and with the winner’s cheque of Rs.1,50,000.

Ridhima Dilawari, who suffered a triple bogey eight on Par-5 eighth hole, shot 76 and was seventh at 9-over, while Hitaashee Bakshi (78) was eighth at 10-over 226.

Vani Kapoor (76) ended ninth and amateur Avani Prashanth (81) rounded off the Top-10.

Best finish

The pick of the day was Jahanvi, who was 4-under through 11 holes before dropping a shot on 12 and another one on 14.

She however, but she birdied 15 for a 69, the only card of the week in the 60s.

Pranavi, who has won once each as an amateur and a pro in 2020, had a disastrous finish with four bogeys and a double bogey in the last six holes.

It dropped her to T5 with Tvesa, who had three birdies against six bogeys for her 75.

The win also carried Amandeep Drall to the top of the Hero Order of Merit, overtaking erstwhile leader Vani Kapoor.

Saaniya Sharma is third while Siddhi Kapoor and Pranavi Urs complete the top five.
