Vedant Sirohi went 4-under par 68 but still ended up second in the boys Category A competition of the 96th Albatross Junior Golf Tournament that was played at the Noida Golf Course on Thursday and Friday.
Vedant had three birdies and an eagle on his front nine to make the turn at 5-under 31 on the first day and though he was not as much on target on his way back, it was still good enough to give him an impressive card for the day.
Eventual winner Tushar Pannu meanwhile played steady golf for a level par 72.
On Friday, even as Tushar continued with a reasonably consistent performance in the windy conditions, Vedant dropped shots all around the park for a 9-over card and eventually, the runners-up placing. Shaurya Bhattacharya was third in this group.
Good JTP form
More than a few winners from last week’s NGC junior talent programme tournament did well at the Albatross event as well, including Anahita Singh (girls category B runner-up), Serena Khanna (girls category C third place), Parnika Sharma (winner, girls category D) and Parth Raman Sood (boys category C winner).
The boys’ category B event produced the closest competition with Anshul Kabthiyal holding off Jai Bahl by just one shot over the two days. Anshul had rounds of 74 and 79 against Jai’s 80 and 74.
Third placed Vinamra Anand was not too far behind either with a 158 aggregate against 153 and 154 totals for the top two.
